Venus James scored her fourth and fifth goals of the Swedish Damallsvenskan season Tuesday as defending champion Djurgarden/Alvsjo dominated Linkopings FC, 7-1.

James, who won WUSA championships with San Jose and Carolina, has scored seven goals since heading to Sweden in May, also scoring a pair for Alvsjo AIK FF — D/A's top farm club — in a Second Division game.

James gave D/A (11-0-2) a 2-1 lead in the 15th minute and capped the rout with a 73rd-minute strike. World Cup heroine Victoria Svensson also scored two goals, her seventh and eighth of the campaign.

Umea (12-1-0) maintained a one-point lead in the Damallsvenskan with a 4-0 win Wednesday at Balinge IF as Brazilian teen Marta scored her 10th and 11th goals.

Third-place Malmo FF (9-1-3), captained by former Rutgers University defender Denise Reddy, fell six points off the lead after rallying for a 1-1 tie at Mallbackens IF (3-6-4).

Former Philadelphia Charge goalkeeper Hope Solo celebrated her selection as an alternate for the Athens Games as Kopparbergs/Goteborg (6-5-3) headed into the Olympic break with a 5-2 victory over Sunnana SK (1-8-5). Lotta Schelin had a hat trick for K/Goteborg.

FC Honka (3-3-4), with former Duquesne University defender Becky Barritt, lost, 2-0, at lowly TiPS (2-8-0) in a Finnish League game Wednesday. All of Honka's losses have come on the road.

Honka is home Sunday against league leader FC United (9-0-1), which has outscored opposition, 40-3. The Naisten SM then takes a break until Aug. 7 for the UEFA U-19 Women's Championship, which will be staged in Finland.

In Iceland, IBV (5-1-2), with former Charge defenders Mary McVeigh and Rachel Kruze, kept pace with Landsbankadeild Kvenna leader Valur (8-0-0) and second-place KR (6-1-1) with a 4-0 romp at Breidablik. IBV plays at FH (1-5-1) on Sunday.
