Three Americans scored goals in European women's action over the weekend, leading their clubs to victories in Finland and Iceland.

Rachel Kruze made her debut for Iceland's IBV, and her former Philadelphia Charge teammate Hope Solo posted her seventh shutout for Sweden's Kopparbergs/Goteborg.

Former Duquesne University defender Becky Barritt scored her first Finnish League goal in FC Honka's 5-0 rout at lowly Kontu. IBV's Mary McVeigh and Stjarnan's Sarah Lentz netted Icelandic Cup goals to prod their clubs into the semifinals.

Lentz, a senior at the University of South Carolina, scored in the 79th minute to deliver Stjarnan a 3-2 victory over Fjolnir in a VISA-Bikar Kvenna quarterfinal. McVeigh, Kruze's former Charge teammate, netted the first goal in IBV's 8-0 rout of lower-division Throttur Reykjavik.

Fjolnir twice rallied from deficits before Lentz's first Icelandic goal sent Stjarnan into the Aug. 31-Sept. 1 semis. McVeigh scored in the 14th minute of IBV's cup opener, and Kruze played 90 minutes one week after arriving in Iceland. Bryndis Joahannesdottir and Margret Lara Vidarsdottir added two goals apiece for IBV.

Valur and KR also advanced to the final four. In league play, Valur, KR and IBV — the top three teams in the Landsbankadeild Kvenna — are a combined 16-2-3 with a 95-18 goals for-against. Fifth-place Stjarnan is 1-3-3 and has been outscored, 24-8.

Barritt netted the fourth goal, in the 78th minute, as sixth-place Honka (3-2-4) notched its second successive shutout and won for the third time in four Finnish Naisten SM matches. Anette Brandt, Sonja Plet and Kaarina Karlsson also scored for Honka. Kontu fell to 0-8-1.

Solo had another clean sheet as Kopparbergs/Goteborg (5-5-3) slammed Sjalevads IK, 3-0, to jump to fifth in the Swedish Damallsvenskan. Lotta Schelin scored goals in 14th and 22nd minutes, and Camilla Browaldh netted another in the 26th.
