Hope Solo, who quickly has asserted herself among the best goalkeepers in Sweden, will look to shut down fellow American Venus James on Saturday when Kopparbergs/Goteborg visits first-place Djurgarden/Alvsjo in Swedish League action.

Solo, a former University of Washington All-American who played last year for the WUSA's Philadelphia Charge, has notched six shutouts in nine appearances for K/Goteborg (4-4-2), accounting for all 14 points the club has earned in the Damallsvenskan.

James, who starred at UCLA and won WUSA titles with the San Jose CyberRays and Carolina Courage, has scored three goals in five games for defending champion Djurgarden/Alvsjo (9-0-1) after netting a pair with farm-club Alvsjo AIK FF in the third-tier D2 Sodra Svealand Damer.

Djurgarden/Alvsjo's attack is led by Sara Johansson (9 goals) and Women's World Cup Silver Ball winner Victoria Svensson (6 goals).

Former Rutgers University defender Denise Reddy returns from suspension for yellow-card accumulation when third-place Malmo FF (7-1-2) plays at Linkopings FC.

In Norway, fourth-place Asker (4-1-2) — with former University of Virginia and Philadelphia Charge forward Darci Borski — plays Saturday at first-place Trondheims-Orn (7-0-0).

Americans also will be available for weekend action in Finland, Iceland and Russia.
