U.S. WOMEN ABROAD (June 5-6): Turbine Potsdam takes German League lead; Denise Reddy scores for Malmo

FFC Turbine Potsdam overtook FFC Frankfurt atop the German League standings with a 3-0 victory Sunday over visiting FCR 2001 Duisburg.

Petra Wimbersky scored twice and former Atlanta Beat striker Conny Pohlers added another goal for Turbine (19-1-1), who holds a one-point lead on Frankfurt (18-0-3) with just one match — Turbine at Frankfurt, next Sunday — to play.

Former Beat defender Nancy Augustyniak played 90 minutes on the back for Turbine, but her twin sister, Julie, did not see action.

FFC Frankfurt was routed, 5-0, Saturday by Sweden's Umea IK in the second leg of the UEFA Women's Cup final, the European women's club championship. Umea captured its second successive UEFA title on 8-0 aggregate.

In Sweden, former Rutgers University defender Denise Reddy netted her second goal of the season in Malmo FF's 4-0 triumph Sunday over Sjalevads IK. Therese Lundin scored her seventh and eighth goals and Heidi Kackur her fifth.

Former Philadelphia Charge goalkeeper Hope Solo, in her first match since returning from nearly two weeks with the U.S. women's national team, surrendered a 52nd-minute goal to Lisa Dahlkvist in Kopparbergs/Goteborg's 1-0 loss at previously winless Karlslunds IF DFF. K/Goteborg fell to fifth place with its second successive defeat.

Also seeing action this weekend were Becky Barritt (former Duquesne) in Finland, and Sarah Lentz (South Carolina senior) and Alison Jarrow (former South Carolina) in Iceland.
