Forwards Mia Hamm and Cindy Parlow, who skipped the U.S. women's national team's trek to China, return for the Americans' Olympic qualifying campaign in Costa Rica.
Midfielder Aly Wagner, who went to China for the Four Nations tournament but was pulled from the roster with a leg injury, also is on the 20-woman roster for the Feb. 25-March 5 CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament in San Jose and Heredia.
The winners of the March 3 semifinals will join the 10-nation field for the Aug. 11-26 Olympic competition in Greece.
The Americans meet Trinidad & Tobago (Feb. 25 in San Jose), Haiti (Feb. 27 in Heredia) and Mexico (Feb. 29 in San Jose) in Group B play. The final — an expected U.S.-Canada meeting — is March 5 in Heredia.
Lindsay Tarpley, who scored three goals in the Americans' Four Nations triumph, is one of three players with remaining college eligibility that Coach April Heinrichs selected to the roster. Her University of North Carolina teammate Heather O'Reilly and Santa Clara's Leslie Osborne, who made her full international debut in China, also were selected.
Amy LePeilbet, an Arizona State All-American who played her first full internationals in China, also is on the roster.
Defender Kylie Bivens and North Carolina midfielder Lori Chalupny, who were on the roster but saw no action at the Four Nations event, were not named to the Olympic qualifying roster. Neither was midfielder Tiffany Roberts, who played two matches in China.
Hamm and Parlow participated in the pre-Four Nations camp at the Home Depot Center but did not travel to Asia. Hamm was permitted to join husband Nomar Garciaparra, the Boston Red Sox shortstop, for their annual preseason workouts in Arizona.
Heinrichs said she did not feel comfortable including Parlow, who sustained a concussion in the Women's World Cup third-place game on Oct. 11, on the Four Nations roster because she was slowed by an ailment that doctors had been unable to pinpoint.
Defender Brandi Chastain, who hasn't returned to 100 percent following a broken foot at the World Cup, is not on the list. Chastain did not play in the Four Nations tournament, instead remaining in Carson, Calif., to train with the U.S. under-21 team.
World Cup roster players on the roster are Hamm, Parlow, Wagner, goalkeepers Briana Scurry and Siri Mullinix, defenders Joy Fawcett, Kate Markgraf, Catherine Reddick and Christie Rampone, midfielders Shannon Boxx, Julie Foudy, Angela Hucles and Kristine Lilly, and forwards Shannon MacMillan and Abby Wambach.
World Cup players not on the roster are Chastain, Bivens, Roberts, forward Tiffeny Milbrett and defender Danielle Slaton, who is recovering from knee surgery.
