There were two unfamiliar names among the players U.S. women's national team coach April Heinrichs has called in for a Jan. 13-23 camp in advance of China's Four Nations tournament — and one very familiar name missing from the list.

Striker Tiffeny Milbrett, who last fall expressed uncertainty about her future in soccer, is not among the players who will report next week at the National Training Center at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Among the 27 players who have been invited are defenders Kate Markgraf and Christie Rampone — the former Kate Sobrero and Christie Pearce. Sobrero was married in October; Pearce, who has played under her maiden name, is now using her husband's last name.

Heinrichs brought in four players who have not made full national team appearances. Midfielder-defender Leslie Osborne was called into a camp last summer but did not see game action. Midfielder-defender Stacey Tullock last year turned down a national team invitation, expressing to Heinrichs that she didn't feel ready for the opportunity. Kristen Luckenbill was among the WUSA's best goalkeepers. Defender Amy LePeilbet had a spectacular summer for the U.S. under-21 team.

Milbrett, who has struggled with form and exhaustion the past two years, and defender Danielle Slaton, who has been slowed by a longstanding knee injury, are the only players from the 20-woman World Cup roster missing the camp. Other notable omissions include goalkeepers LaKeysia Beene and Hope Solo, defenders Nancy Augustyniak, Jenny Benson and Nandi Pryce, and midfielder Lorrie Fair.

Five players who played collegiately last fall, including World Cup starter Catherine Reddick, are on the roster. Reddick is joined by University of North Carolina teammates Lori Chalupny, Heather O'Reilly and Lindsay Tarpley, and by Osborne (Santa Clara) and LePeilbet (Arizona State). Reddick and LePeilbet have completed their college eligibility.

Heinrichs will whittle the roster to 20 players for the Four Nations event in Shenzhen, China, in which the U.S. women will face Sweden on Jan. 30, China on Feb. 1 and Canada on Feb. 3.
