It was Cat Reddick's homecoming, but another Southern girl stole the show in the U.S. women's national team's 6-0 rout Saturday of England in Birmingham, Ala.

Memphis native Cindy Parlow scored four goals to highlight a superb performance in midfield, netting her sixth international hat trick before, 12,102 at Legion Field.

Shannon MacMillan scored four goals in the Americans' win over Canada in April.

Parlow scored her goals in about 15 minutes of action, tallying twice late in the first half to build a three-goal cushion, then adding two more in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

''That was so much fun out there today,'' said Parlow, who has scored 61 international goals. ''Just scoring one goal is fun, but luckily today I was able to get four.''

Mia Hamm gave the U.S. women a 30th-minute lead, and Tiffeny Milbrett added a fine goal in the 68th.

Joy Fawcett missed a penalty kick in the 20th minute after Hamm was tripped. Goalkeeper Pauline Cope was able to easily stop a weak shot.

England, clearly affected by the humid, 82-degree conditions, managed very little offense but prevented the Americans from breaking through most of the first half.

After Parlow turned 1-0 into 3-0 — a tap-in from Mia Hamm's penetration from the left in the 42nd minute, and a close-range header from a corner kick after Cope parried Julie Foudy's header in stoppage time — the U.S. squad dominated the rest of the way.

Parlow also scored with a nifty shot through defenders to the lower right in the 50th minute and on a rebound after another corner kick in the 55th. She departed three minutes later and played 33 minutes in Atlanta's 1-0 WUSA win over visiting San Jose later Saturday.

Defender Brandi Chastain and goalkeeper LaKeysia Beene saw 90 minutes for San Jose in Atlanta. Boston's Kate Sobrero and Angela Hucles and San Diego's Joy Fawcett, Julie Foudy, Shannon MacMillan and Aly Wagner will be available for the Spirit-Breakers game in San Diego on Sunday.

Parlow, usually a forward, was outstanding in midfield, where she plays for the Beat.

''To have Cindy in our midfield gives us something that no other personality gives us,'' Heinrichs said. ''She is difficult to beat defensively, covers a lot of ground, has bite in her tackles, has a great heading presence, and has great feet.''

Reddick, a Birmingham native, played 90 minutes on the back line in her return to Alabama. She'll join the U.S. under-21 team in Brazil on Monday.
