The United States extended its all-time unbeaten record against Jamaica to 13 games with yesterday's 2-1 victory over the Reggae Boyz in Kingston.
Defender Carlos Bocanegra put the Americans on the board in the 11th minute with a 6-yard header off a Bobby Convey corner kick. The 19-year-old Convey, who also won the corner kick, was making his first U.S. start in the central midfield.
Bocanegra turned provider a minute after his goal, serving Klein at the top of the penalty area, from where the Kansas City midfielder hammered a shot inside the left post.
Jamaica's consolation goal came in the 54th minute from forward Onandi Lowe's 30-yard free kick, which flew into the upper left corner of the goal, past keeper Tim Howard.
Bocanegra and Klein had also scored in the USA's first game of the year, a 4-0 win over Canada Jan. 18. The Americans, who lost, 1-0, to Argentina last Saturday, next meet Japan March 29 in Seattle.
