Joe-Max Moore scored both goals in the 2-1 U.S. win over Jamaica that clinched a World Cup spot for the Americans — thanks to Trinidad & TobagoÆs 1-0 upset of Honduras and MexicoÆs 0-0 tie in Costa Rica. The USA joins Costa Rica as the regionÆs first two qualifiers. The Mexico-Honduras match in November will decide CONCACAFÆs final qualifier. In Foxboro, Mass., U.S. captain Claudio Reyna, playing his first match for the USA since June 20 after missing three games because of suspension and injury, set up Moore with a free kick that Moore converted with a diving header to give the USA the lead in the fourth minute of the match. Jamaica equalized in the 14th minute as James Lawrence beat Brad Friedel with a well-placed shot in the box. The teams stayed even well into the second half until the USA earned a penalty after Tyrone Marshall dragged down Landon Donovan in the penalty area after Donovan had combined with Reyna to create a dangerous run. Moore slammed the penalty kick past Aaron Lawrence, who dived left as Moore shot low inside the right post for the 2-1 win. Oct. 7 in Foxboro, Mass.
