USA men’s update: USA 1 Trin. & Tobago 0 (53rd minute)

Thomas Dooley scored in the 52nd minute to give the U.S. a 1-0 lead over Trinidad & Tobago in their World Cup qualifying match in Richmond, Va.

The U.S. won a corner after Eric Wynalda’s shot at the near post was saved. Dooley made a fine header that was cleared off the line, giving the Americans another corner. The second corner was cleared back out to the right flank, where Jeff Agoos slid and volleyed a cross back into the box. Dooley headed it past the diving Thomas into the far corner for the score.
