Carlos Hermosillo scored in the first minute to give Mexico a 1-0 lead over the U.S.
Alexi Lalas passed the ball back to Kasey Keller, who attempted to kick a long ball down the field. However, the ball rebounded off of a charging Hermosillo and bounced over Keller’s head and into the goal for a 1-0 Mexico lead.
