Tab Ramos scored in the 78th minute to give the USA a 1-0 lead in its World Cup qualifying match against Costa Rica. Second-half substitute Preki beat his man down the right wing and hit a low ball across the area. Marcelo Balboa played the ball back out to Ramos, who cracked a shot from the right side of the top of the box past the Costa Rican keeper into the lower right corner to put the U.S. ahead.
