The USA and Jamaica are tied 0-0 at halftime of their World Cup Qualifier in Washington, D.C. The Reggae Boyz had much of the possession and more scoring opportunities in the first half. Forward Deon Burton made several dangerous runs, and the U.S. was lucky to escape a goalmouth scramble off of a corner kick without conceding a score. Tab Ramos has made several fine runs for the U.S., including one in the 33rd minute when he broke into the right side of the area and slid a ball back for Claudio Reyna, whose low shot was deflected just wide of the far post. The U.S. began to assert itself more after Jeff Agoos entered the game for Mike Sorber in the 37th minute and the U.S. switched from a 3-5-2 to a 4-4-2. Cobi Jones moved from the right flank to the left, while Ramos moved outside on the right. In injury time, Eddie Pope’s header from Eric Wynalda’s cross went just wide. John Harkes and Claudio Reyna have received yellow cards for the U.S. Reyna’s was his second, so he will be suspended for the match against Mexico in Mexico City on Nov. 2
