The Minnesota Thunder beat the J-League’s Gamba Osaka 3-2 in a friendly played Feb. 21 in Osaka. The win is the first by an American team over a J-League team in a game played in Japan.
The 1994 and 1995 USISL runners-up got goals from Gerard Lagos (17th minute), Tony Sanneh (64th) and Amos Magee (72nd).
The Thunder had lost to Shimizu S-Pulse 2-1 three days earlier.
