The USISL’s W-League has added a pair of 1996 gold medalists to its growing list of national team players by signing forward Carin Gabarra and defender Staci Wilson. Both will play for the Maryland Pride. Gabarra, who recently retired from the national team after a stellar career that included winning the inaugural Women’s World Cup in 1991 in China, currently coaches the soccer program at Navy. She was also a member of the 1996 Olympic team, as was Wilson, who recently graduated from North Carolina. The Pride opened its season with a 4-0 win over Delware on May 16, as Gabarra tallied twice in her W-League debut.
