The 1999 W-League’s W-2 division will feature a host of new teams. The Austin Lady Lone Stars, Houston Tornados, Jacksonville Jade, North Texas Heat, Northern Virginia Majestics, Piedmont Spark and Springfield Sirens are all new squads, and the New Jersey Wildcats drop to the W-2 after playing in the W-1 last year. Gone are 1998 champ Ft. Collins (promoted to the W-1), as well as Finger Lakes, Connecticut, Alabama and Orlando. ò The late withdrawal of Oklahoma City will necessitate changes to the schedule for the Central Conference teams, as well as for the W-1 franchises in Denver and Ft. Collins. ò Each W-2 team will play a 12-game schedule, with playoffs to be held July 30-Aug. 1 and the championship weekend set for Aug. 6-8. Here are the conference alignments: Northern Conference — Central Jersey Splash, New Hampshire Foxfire, New Jersey Wildcats, New York Magic, Rhode Island Rays, Springfield Sirens. Southern Conference — Hampton Roads Piranhas, Jacksonville Jade, Miami Gliders, No. Virginia Majestics, Piedmont Spark. Central Conference — Austin Lady Lone Stars, Cleveland Eclipse, Houston Tornados, Indiana Blaze, Kalamazoo Quest, North Texas Heat, Rockford Dactyls.
