Earlier this week we learned that Pablo Mastroeni, aged 31, is ready to try his luck in Europe. Josh Wolff is the same age and is already on his way back, returning to the Kansas City Wizards after two years at German second division club 1860 Munich.
“There was nothing for me in Germany,” Wolff told Jack Bell. “At the end of the run, they weren’t going to re-sign me. My wife is pregnant and we weighed the options. Coming back made a little more sense.” Wolff, who was in and out of the 1860 team last season, admitted that “they had me playing wide right and I struggled.”
The forward said that “we loved our time in Germany. But playing overseas is definitely not for everybody. That said, I would encourage any player that has the want or desire to make something of themselves to try to get anywhere in Europe. The toughest thing is just getting situated, once you get past that you have to find yourself as a player.”
