1. PRINCETON (19-2-0) vs. UCLA (17-6-0)
Kickoff: Friday, Dec. 3, 2 pm ET in Cary, N.C.
STORYLINE
The UCLA-Princeton semifinal features a meeting of former teammates.
Princeton coach Julie Shackford and UCLA coach Jillian Ellis attended college together at William & Mary, where both were All-Americans. Shackford and Ellis played in four NCAA tournaments together and are both members of the William & Mary athletic Hall of Fame.
UCLA is the only semifinalist to return from the 2003 Women's College Cup. The Bruins are making their eighth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and ninth in the 12-year history of the program.
Princeton is the first Ivy League team to reach the final four. The closest it came previously was in the initial NCAA tournament in 1982 when it reached the quarterfinals.
STARS TO WATCH
ESMERALDA NEGRON: The two-time Ivy League Player of the Year owns Princeton records for goals in a season (20), goals in a career (47), points in a season (52), points in a career (112) and assists in a season (12).
DIANA MATHESON: The 2004 Ivy League Rookie of the Year deferred admission for a year to play for Canada in the 2003 World Cup. Her arrival in midfield turned the Tigers, already a good team, into one of the nation's most dangerous squads.
JILL OAKES: UCLA's junior midfielder is one of the best two-way players in the college game. She is a tenacious marker but also capable of scoring key goals. The former U.S. U-19 star had the game-winning goal against San Diego in the second round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament.
