Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru have advanced to the semifinals of the South American Women’s Championship being held in Mar Del Plata. Hosts Argentina, winners of Group B, will square off against Peru in one semifinal on March 13, while Group A champs Brazil will meet Ecuador. The winners meet in the championship match March 15, with the champion advancing to the 1999 Women’s World Cup in the USA, and the runner-up playing a home-and-home playoff against the second-place finisher in the CONCACAF qualifying tournament for a berth at USA ’99.
