Andy Moeller has scored in the ninth minute to give Germany a 1-0 lead over the U.S. The Germans controlled much of the possession in the opening minutes and won a corner after Thomas Dooley tackled the ball away from Joerg Heinrich. Olaf Thon’s kick went to the far post, where Juergen Klinsmann headed it back across the goalmouth to Moeller, whose header went between Mike Burns and the near post and into the net.
