The U.S. U-20 national team played to a 0-0 tie with Germany to remain unbeaten at the World Youth Championship in the Netherlands.
The Americans had the better of play in the first half but faded as the game went on and struggled to hold off the Germans in the late going.
The U.S. is tied with Germany with four points after two games in Group D ahead of Argentina with three points after its win over Egypt and can clinch a berth in the second round with at least a tie against Egypt Saturday, June 18, in their final Group D match in Enschede.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 a.m. ET (TV: live on Fox Soccer Channel and same-day tape on Galavision at 7 p.m. ET/PT and replayed on FSC at 11 p.m. ET).
The scoreless draw marked the first-time ever the U.S. has come away with at least a point in its second match after winning its opening game at a World Youth Championship.
''We obviously would have liked to come away with more as I'm sure Germany is too,'' said U.S. coach Sigi Schmid, ''but we are satisfied with one point. In our last game against Egypt we need to find the back of the net to try and win the group. But I'm very pleased with how our team played over the first 60 minutes.''
