The Atlanta franchise of the WUSA announced an agreement to play at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium/Grant Field in the club’s inaugural season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The 46,000-seat stadium is located at the heart of the Georgia Tech campus on Techwood Drive. The stadium is the home of Georgia Tech football and has a grass field. “Georgia Tech’s willingness to work with us, location and reputation as a popular sporting venue were all important factors in our selection process,” said Lynn Morgan, general manager of the Atlanta club. “We’re very happy to host Atlanta’s newest pro sports team,” said Dave Braine, the university’s director of athletics. “The relationship will be mutually beneficial. The WUSA Atlanta [team] will have an excellent playing facility, and it’s an opportunity to encourage young women in the Atlanta area to get more involved with soccer as we move ahead with plans to start our own program in 2004.”
