Philadelphia Charge head coach Mark Krikorian added to his staff by naming University of Pennsylvania coach Darren Ambrose as an assistant coach. Also joining the Charge staff are strength and conditioning coaches Duane Carlisle and Antonio Davis. Ambrose, who will coach the Charge goalkeepers this season in addition to his responsibilities at Penn, led the Quakers to a 10-8-1 record and the ECAC Tournament title in 2000 during his first year at the school. Four of his players received All-Ivy League honors, including two second team members. Prior to arriving at Penn, Ambrose spent the 1999 campaign as an assistant coach at Florida State and three years as the women’s and men’s assistant coach at Rhodes College. Rhodes went 73-33-3 during his tenure, including two NCAA Tournament appearances and one Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship. Originally from England, Ambrose played goalkeeper at Division II power South Carolina-Spartanburg and spent a year with Columbia of the USISL before beginning his coaching career. “I am very pleased to have Darren join the Charge coaching staff,” said Krikorian. “He brings a high level of goalkeeping expertise that will be a great contribution to the program.” Carlisle is the executive director of Lightning Fast Training Systems, LLC, one of the most intensive and advanced athletic training programs in the country. He is also the director of the strength and conditioning program at Lawrenceville School in New Jersey and is the speed consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles. Davis is the regional director of Lightning Fast Training Systems, LLC, where he designs specific, individualized fitness programs for members based on their goals, needs and medical conditions. He is a former four-time NCAA All-American track & field performer at Penn State.
