Mia Hamm scored two first-half goals and Rebekah Splaine assisted two late strikes as the Washington Freedom and Boston Breakers tied, 3-3, in the second game of the first WUSA Soccer Festival in Blaine, Minn.
Hamm tallied in the third and 34th minutes and Abby Wambach also tallied for the Freedom, which watched a 3-1 halftime lead slip away on late goals by Sarah Popper and ''guest'' player Kelly Smith.
Friday's Festival opener also ended even, with the New York Power and Atlanta Beat scoring two goals apiece. The second WUSA Soccer Festival will be held June 27 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Marinette Pichon, along with Smith an addition from the Philadelphia Charge's roster, also scored for Boston.
Hamm fired Washington ahead at the start from a throughball by Angela Hucles, playing against her former club for the first time.
Hucles, a ''guest'' from the San Diego Spirit, played all three WUSA seasons for Boston but was traded to the Spirit for Aly Wagner following last year's Founders Cup championship game but before the league suspended operations. Wagner made her Breakers debut in the match.
Catherine Reddick made her WUSA debut in the match, starting on the backline for Boston. Reddick, who completed her college eligibility last fall, had trained with the Carolina Courage in a league-college program last fall.
Hamm curled in a corner kick for the second goal, and Wambach scored from 35 yards in stoppage time to answer Pichon's 44th-minute goal.
Pichon scored after Freedom goalkeeper Siri Mullinix punched away a Kristine Lilly blast. Wambach tallied after winning a clearance off the foot of Boston goalkeeper Kristin Slater.
Popper scored in 70th minute after Washington keeper Nicci Wright pushed aside a Splaine shot, and Smith got the equalizer from a Splaine feed in a sequence started by Wagner.
Pichon and Smith also played in Friday's game for New York and will play for Philadelphia in Southern California.
Breakers goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc missed the match with a knee injury.
The game featured 41 shots, 26 by Boston, and drew 5,017 to the National Sports Center, for a two-game total attendance of 7,028.
