The New York Power named Susan Marenoff as the general manager of the Women’s United Soccer Association team. “We are ecstatic to have someone of Susan’s abilities join our management team,” said Jerome Ramsey, president of both the New York and Carolina clubs. “She has a tremendous amount of managerial experience, a tremendous sports background and is very familiar with the local area. I think it would have been difficult to find a better match for our team and the market.” In 1999, Marenoff joined the WTA Tour (Women’s Tennis Association), the world’s largest professional sport/tour for women, as the Director of Marketing. Leading the Tour’s marketing efforts, she was responsible for all aspects of marketing and sales including brand development via traditional and non traditional marketing mediums, new media development, strategic alliances, licensing, the institution of new revenue streams and sponsorship sales and service. Prior to joining the WTA Tour, Marenoff worked for the 1998 Women’s World Cup Organizing Committee, serving as the New York/New Jersey Venue Director for the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup soccer tournament. Marenoff began her sports management career in 1988 at Madison Square Garden, overseeing ticket sales for the New York Knicks and New York Rangers. As MSG’s youngest Vice President, she managed a sales, operations and service staff responsible for all of the sports properties’ clients as well as MSG’s Corporate Suite Clients. Prior to MSG, Marenoff worked on Wall Street for Bankers Trust Company. Marenoff currently serves on the board of WISE (Women in Sports and Events), on the Women’s Sports Foundation’s National Advisory Board, and is a member of the Foundation’s Travel and Training Judging Committee, serving to promote the continuing emergence of women in sports. Marenoff becomes the fourth female general manager named in the WUSA out of the eight teams, with one position still open (Carolina Tempest).
