Cindy Parlow's first WUSA hat trick Sunday sparked Atlanta past Philadelphia and to the top of the standings.

The midfielder scored in the 43rd, 54th and 64th minutes in a 4-2 triumph that left the Beat with 19 points (in 11 games), two more than Washington (in 10) and Boston (in 11).

The Freedom were held to a 2-2 tie by visiting San Jose.

Sunday's highlights:

Washington 2 San Jose 2: Pretinha netted her fourth and fifth goals of the season and the visiting CyberRays (4-6-1, 13 points) ended their team-record three-game losing streak before 7,057 at RFK Stadium.

Mia Hamm scored one goal and assisted another by Abby Wambach and Jacqui Little added a pair of assists for the Freedom (5-3-2, 17 points), which hasn't won in three games, since May 24. Hamm, with 20 points, shares the WUSA scoring lead with Carolina's Danielle Fotopoulos and Boston's Maren Meinert.

Atlanta 4 Philadelphia 2: Parlow scored her first three goals of the season as the Beat (5-2-4, 19 points) overcame an early deficit to win for the first time in four games.

Marinette Pichon scored her league-leading eighth goal — Meinert also has eight — and added assist for the last-place Charge (3-6-2, 11 points).

Melanie Hoffmann scored on a stunning volley to give Philadelphia a ninth-minute lead, but Pohlers' blast to the upper-left and Parlow's rebound gave Atlanta the edge. Pichon tied the score in first-half injury time, and the Beat pulled away as Parlow completed her hat trick from sequences started by Nikki Serlenga.

Charge defender Jenny Benson was ejected in the 85th minute after a foul from behind against Pohlers.
