San Diego will host the league’s first spring training from March 22-31 at the ARCO U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. “We are delighted to be hosting the other seven teams in our community,” San Diego Spirit general manager Kevin Crow said. “Obviously, San Diego has a lot to offer in terms of the weather and the fabulous facilities at the Olympic Training Center.” The teams will arrive on March 21 and commence training the next day, playing games against each other on four match days. The U.S. Under-21 and Under-19 women’s national teams will also participate in matches against the WUSA teams. The WUSA teams may divide into split squads to maximize the game action for all the players. The WUSA coaches should have close to their final squads picked by the time they arrive in San Diego, with the final roster of 20 due into the league office on April 2. Six fields will be utilized at the OTC for spring training: four regular soccer fields and two fields at the archery range.
