At the Cotton Bowl in Dallas in front of 51,012 fans, Colombia downed Mexico 2-1 in a friendly match. The loss was Mexico's first in 13 games since Javier Aguirre returned as head coach of the national team in June.
Colombia's Giovanni Moreno scored on a header during first-half stoppage time, and Darwin Quintero made it 2-0 in the 81st minute when he redirected a cross from Yulian Anchico into the right corner. Paul Aguilar pulled a goal back for Mexico in the 90th minute. In the 43rd minute, Colombia's team doctor Mario Figueroa was kicked out of the game for dissent after arguing with the officials. Figueroa attempted to watch from the stands before being escorted off the field by a team official and a police officer.
