Having Zinedine Zidane in your camp makes it all but automatic to get elected to a Presidential position within soccer, but especially is he’s considering being your running mate. And so things are looking locked up for candidate Florentino Perez in his bid to return to the top spot at Real Madrid, a post he held previously from 2000-06, with Zidane promising that the early favorite “will pull something special out of the hat” and stressing that “Madrid need a charismatic president, someone who has a lot of desire to put the club back on top.”
“When I signed my contract with Madrid, I told him that the offer he made for me was too much. But it wasn’t too much for him. He replied, ‘If I had to put more money on the table, I would have done it without any hesitation.’ That is his policy. When Florentino wants something, he gets it,” related Zizou. “Later on after I scored my goal in the 2002 Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen, he said to me, ‘With a goal like that, I have already recouped my expenses.'”
Asked if he’d be back with the club where he was one of “Los Galacticos” super-squad from 2001-06 if his old front office friend was elected, Zidane immediately offered “I feel like I’m ready to return to football” and turned himself into an instant VP candidate in saying, “I would be delighted if he asked me to be his adviser.”
