Houston Dynamo star Dwayne De Rosario scored twice within three minutes in the first half to give Canada a 2-0 victory over Haiti Monday at Miami’s Orange Bowl in the final day of Group A action at the Gold Cup.

The victory gave Canada first place in Group A ahead of Costa Rica, which beat Guadeloupe, 1-0, on Walter Centeno‘s goal on a free kick in the 13th minute of Monday’s other Group A finale.

Guadeloupe finished third in the group but still can advance to the quarterfinals as one of the two third-place teams with the best record.

De Rosario beat Haiti goalie Gabart Fenelon from a sharp angle in the 32nd minute, then converted a penalty kick three minutes later.

Canada goalie Pat Onstad, who returned to Miami after playing for Houston in its 2-1 win over Columbus on Sunday, was involved in a nasty collision with Haitian Ricardo Pierre-Louis in the second half but returned to the game after a 10-minute delay.

Centeno’s goal inside the far post was his third of the tournament and his eighth in the Gold Cup, tying him got third place all-time with Americans Landon Donovan and Brian McBride.
